What happened to the new homepage?

September 14th, 2011

You will see the old homepage on Ateamo for a while.  We had a transitional page up that was causing some issues so we restored the old homepage.  Please let us know if you continue to have redirecting issues.

Create a player functionality has been disabled

March 17th, 2011

Due to feedback from league administrators we have disabled the ability for captains to create a player to register with a league.  We are working on some alternative solutions to allow captains can register players which do not have access to a computer or email.  Once this is resolved we will add another post with the complete information.  If you have any feedback or thoughts, please email us at support@ateamo.com and let us know.

Version 2 Sneak Peek

December 28th, 2010

We are busy working on completing version 2.  This version has a number of new features which will make it easier to get out and play soccer by collaborating with your teams, teammates, leagues and friends.  Our goal for this version has been to make the interface more intuitive and therefore easier to use.  If you would like to get a sneak peek at what we are working on please contact us by clicking on the link below:

Give me a sneak peek….I'll give you some feedback.

All that we ask is that you give us your feedback.

Lot’s of updates are ready to be posted.

December 11th, 2010

The Austin Coed Soccer Association is playing their final game of the season tomorrow, 12/12.  There will be players and captains referencing Ateamo for rosters and schedules so the updates that was planned for today was postponed until the weekend.

What are we rolling out?  This is an incremental release meaning that there are not wholesale changes.  We are rolling out some bug fixes and enhacements.  The primary enhacement this release is that you will be able to connect with the other social applications that you use to communicate with your teammates, captains, players and friends.  We will initally include Facebook so that when you RSVP to an event your response will post to Facebook.  We are exploring other ways in which we can integrate with Facebook to make our service better.  If you have any ideas please let us know.  Twitter will be next followed (hopefully) by Flickr.

I have been busy working on a number of enhacements to the sign up process.  Ateamo has never really had a traditional welcome page..ie, thanks for signing up…here is what to do next.  I have finally completed this functionality and will be rolling it out in this release.

There are several others which I will just have to outline as we move them into production.  Please note that Ateamo may experience some downtime over the weekend as we move this release into production.  If you have any questions let me know.

See you on the pitch!

How about ranking players?

November 6th, 2010

I have seen other sites do this…whether social or not.  It seems that some have ranked using hard statistics like goal scoring and the like.  However, in todays adult recreational leagues, it seems impossible to reliably collect the information needed.   In Austin we have a hard enough time getting the referees to turn in all of the game reports, let alone accurately note who scored the goals.  Plus, most teams hand out jerseys at the field so a lot of times players may not be wearing the same number as normal.  This could also lead to inaccurate score reporting.

So, how do we collect some objective information in order to generate player rankings?

Maybe we should first be asking…should we?  What would be the point?

Well, our goal at Ateamo is to provide a valuable resource to captains and players and to ultimately encourage more social connections around sports. We think it is good for the mind, soul and obviously body.  In order to be as effective as possible we need to do what ever it takes to generate more stickyness.  To me providing an Ateamo ranking is a no brainer.  This would encourage more interaction among members and would also foster more offline conversations which would then be brought back online.

Back to the original question.  What information should we use in our rankings.  Off hand the initial thoughts are sportsmanship, teamwork, success and activity.

What do you think?

Create a registration for a player without email access

September 22nd, 2010

There are times when you may need to create a player registration.  For example, if you have a player that does not have access to email you can create the registration for the player.  Please note that if you create your player registration they will not have access to any of the other online tools or resources provided by Ateamo.  We will, in the near future, allow you to merge these created registrations into an Ateamo members' account but we have no target date yet for when this will be live.

To create a player registration follow the following steps:

1) Login to your Ateamo account

2) Click on the 'Registrations' link and then click on the 'Team Registrations' tab to pull up your list of team registrations

3) Click on the link labeled 'View your registration and/or register players'.  This page displays all of the players which are currently registered with your team.

4) Click on the button 'Register more players'

5) Click on the tab 'Register New Players'.  From this tab you can send invites the traditional way by entering the new players email addresses in the field provided.  The second option allows you to input the name, date of birth and phone (optional) for the new players.

6) Fill out the new players information and then click 'Continue'.  You can add more than one player by clicking on the "+" sign.  This will create a new row to enter the players information.

7) Finally, select the appropriate registration fee and submit the form.

One you complete these steps, you will have registered the new player.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or feedback.
